Hi Dennis and Jaime,
I just had the pleasure of seeing the engagement book you made for Jack and Paul and was moved to write. It is SO INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL!! Paul had a crowd gathering around the work table oohing and aahhhing to every page. Someone even asked if they had "done an ad for Prada"(!) What impresses me the most is how well you captured their personal style and love for eachother. Paul and Jack are such special people and beautiful couple and the photos really illustrate this. I'm so glad they found you for their photographers. Amazing work!!

Every time I visit your website I am so inspired, I absolutly love your photos!
And its not just the talent you have, the way you capture breathtaking detail or the awesome post production work you do but the way you let people into your lives. I don't know quite how to put it into words but I see such love, such passion and beauty. You, all three of you, inspire me to go out there and live life to the fullest, love, laugh, and just live.
I wanted to say thank you.
I wish you all the happiness in the world.

We have been very slack again at updating the blog. We do have excuses though. We have been really hard at work on a big project of re-branding ourselves, changing our business name and logo, and doing a huge website update. This is an unofficial sneak peak announcement, because it is not quite all finished yet... but we have changed our business name to Viera Photographics! After all these years of being Dennis Viera Photography - we decided to include me (Jaime) as well. Dennis started the business on his own, but he got so busy so quick that I have worked for him from the very beginning... so it is about time... :)
We will make an official announcement once our blog is changed over - but in the meantime, have a look at the website as we have just done a major update with all kinds of new photos on there! We would love to hear your comments, if you are feelin' it.
We also just got back from photographing Kelly and Tom's wedding on the beautiful Isla Mujeres off of Cancun. We had a great time and can't wait to go back for another wedding someday (wink wink). It is one of the coolest places we have been to in a long time. The sky was so beautiful there we decided to do a whole series on it.

Of course we are a bit bias, but we believe that photos are timeless and priceless and make the very best gifts. In the spirit of the season, the bad economic times, and just wanting to spread a bit of cheer, we are giving everyone 25% off any purchase until 1st January 2009*
Here are a couple of ideas to take advantage of the holiday discount:
- Holiday Cards - Beautiful custom made holiday cards printed on art paper with any image(s) you choose. This can be from your wedding, engagement session or just something from our site that you like. Also, if you have an idea of a photo you want on your card, we have an endless back catalog of images - pick our brains!
- Prints - Custom Prints, you can choose unframed and do it yourself or we can frame them for you! A great gift for anyone.
- Canvas Prints - A great way to turn any photo into a work of art.
- Digital Negatives - Parents, want a great gift for the newly wed couple? A gift of the digital negatives from either their wedding or engagement session.
- DVD Slideshow - The slideshow you see online, put to your choice of music on a DVD. A great gift to say thanks to a special wedding guest.
- Clients - A great way to get something that you have been wanting at a discount!
To take advantage of this rare opportunity (we have never done this before) - either email us with your ideas or go to any proof site (choose to pay by check) and I will discount it for you.
For clients - you are welcome to pass this discount on to your family, friends, and wedding guests- this applies to them as well!

As you have noticed, we have been a bit slack at posting blogs. This is because we have been in Panama for the last two weeks! It is a gorgeous country... We spent a couple of days in Panama City before going to Bocas del Toro. We spent the rest of the time exploring the Bocas area and the island of Colon.
Here are a couple of photos from Panama City.
These photos are from Dennis' photo expedition - he decided to go out
into the old city about an hour before dark. I guess it is still pretty
shady around there, especially at night - and being as white as Dennis
is with his huge camera - he got the attention of a Police man who
promptly escorted him out of the area telling him there was too many
crazy people in the area for him to be out that late. Then he put him in a taxi and sent him home.

Three words to describe yourselves:
"sleepy, laid back and refined" - Seb and Brian
Their wedding was held at this really cool little place in Fullerton called Villa del Sol. They had a beautiful western wedding in the courtyard followed by a traditional Korean wedding ceremony on the mezzanine. Definitely very laid back and refined, but for claiming to be sleepy, they got pretty crazy on the dance floor that evening!

A very anticipated wedding for us as we loved their engagement session so much. What a great couple... Julia is a high school english teacher (crazy, I know, but she is so well suited for the job) and Jordan is a movie producer (even crazier, but suited for the job as well!) Jordan's work has taken him to Michigan, so the last time they saw each other was their engagement session. As hard as it must have been for the both of them, it made their day even more special as they really truly missed each other. The ceremony was held under a huge oak tree at the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa. They had a puppet show of the Missing Piece and the Big O by Sheil Silverstein and the best father daughter dance we have ever seen! But overall, our absolute favorite part of the day was our midnight photo session with Julia, Jordan, Miles and Rosie.

Here's my REAL point: What you guys do is incredibly important, I can't imagine the pressure - and you make it look so easy and you do it so well. You captured one of the most important days of our lives better than we ever could have imagined. You guys are so special and we are so grateful for the beautiful and irreverent work that you do. THANK YOU!

Dennis turned 33 yesterday (mmm, he probably wouldn't want me to tell everyone that, but oh well).
So there is this running thing with birthdays for us... I am a practical gift kind of girl, and for his 30th birthday I thought a really nice gift would be an electric razor. He always complained about having to shave everyday and cut himself often, so I thought it would be a very thoughtful gift. Well, he hasn't let me live that down since and teases me about it all the time. Ok, so maybe for his 30th I could have gotten him something fun... Anyway, I decided to make it up to him this year and get him a record player (for those who don't know, he is a complete record junkie). When we came back to the states this season he didn't take his precious turntables with him, but has been still collecting records - so he has a huge pile of them in the living room, but nothing to play them on. I really wanted it to be a surprise... so as sort of a joke and an extension of the 30th birthday present, I got him electric hair clippers! I wrapped it all up and gave it to him early and then did my very very best to keep the secret all day. He wasn't surprised at the practicality of it, but I could tell he was disappointed. Being the easy going Dennis that he is, he kept reassuring me that all he wanted was to be with me and Alex on his birthday. So, I made him wait all day and had Genevieve sneak in while we were at dinner to set it up in the living room with balloons on it. He was pretty surprised and totally excited! But as always, knucklehead Jaime always messes something up and didn't get him an amplifier to play it through (which I found out is needed otherwise it is really quiet through the speakers). So he spent the rest of the night with his ear pressed to the speakers listening to his records... finally.
Here are a couple photos of him in his younger years... He has been upset about being so old this year. But looking through all these photos got me thinking... He has had such a great life so far, done some pretty amazing things and grown into a wonderful man, husband, father, and son. I can't wait to spend the next 33 years with him...
I love you darling, happy birthday! I hope now you can stop teasing me about the 30th one!

Betty and Troy were married in the most gorgeous Napa Valley wedding venue, Montington Vineyards. The two have quite the penchant for all things Lord of the Rings which was a connection we made back when they first booked us. At that time, we were working from our office in New Zealand. The two mapped out their venue and the surrounds of the Bay Area in the style of J.R.R. Tolkien's map of Middle Earth. We were sad not to see any hobbits - but the day, and our journey up to the lovely Napa Valley (which reminded us a lot of several of our favorite NZ locations) very memorable.

Here are a couple of photos from our Sea World Birthday trip that we took on the Olympus with a roll of SFX.
In my hurry to get a seat for the dolphin show, I noticed that there was a free seat in the front row. I didn't realize, in my furry, that there was a reason for that. Had I noticed the signs from the 16th row down that said "SOAK ZONE" I might have reconsidered. It was a like scene out of a movie. I rushed down, Alex in one hand all of our stuff in the other. Dennis and Bonnie were just at the top of the stadium, looking down on us. All of a sudden I heard the trainer say "are you ready to get soaked"?! Still thinking nothing of it, I laughed at the people getting soaked a couple of meters down from me. Then all of a sudden there were waves of water coming over our head. I stood there looking like a doofus. Alex started crying, I looked up, Dennis and Bonnie were laughing, and tourists were staring. The dolphin must have thought it was really funny, because it didn't do it once like it normally does, but 5 times. Waves and waves of water came over our head and we were soaked, literally from head to toe. The whole crowd was laughing at us. The last thing I remember was looking up and having all the tourists point cameras and lenses in our face. He was still crying when we finally found our non-SOAK ZONE seats and Dennis found his camera.
